SK hynix unveils GDDR7 memory that's faster and more energy efficient than its predecessor

SK hynix has announced that it will begin mass production of GDDR7 modules in the third quarter of this year (July-September). The new modules offer faster bandwidth and improved power efficiency. GDDR7 can deliver 32Gbps per pin and SK hynix says that this can reach 40Gbps “depending on the circumstances”. When used on high-end GPUs with 384-bit memory buses, the new memory modules will be able to transfer 1.5TB per second (compared to 1.1TB per second for the previous generation).
